Meet Wesley

I grew up in Illinois but I am proud to call Wisconsin my home. I played a lot of sports as a teenager, like basketball, baseball, and football. I went to college on a football scholarship. I've always had a love scifi and fantasy books and movies. I grew up playing D&D and I'm self-proclaimed a nerd (in the best way possible, if I do say so myself). Some of my other hobbies include playing guitar, board games, going to concerts, and volunteering as a leader with a local sustainability group.

I've always wanted to be a father. I have a sister who is is 13 years younger than me, and after helping care for her as a baby, I knew I wanted to be a dad. My favorite activity as a father is Saturday mornings where we laze around, watch cartoons, play with toys, and make a big breakfast of eggs and toast. I enjoy family outings and we make it a point to explore and discover all the cool and fun activities around us. We also like to travel and see the world, especially seeing it through our children’s eyes.

My Career

I’m a scientist and lead a probiotic genomics team. We work with good bacteria— the kind that goes into yogurt and cheese. I’m extremely passionate about my work and I’ve published papers based on my experiments. I am proud that my studies help people feel better. I love that I get the opportunity to collaborate with people all over the world. My job allows me to be home at 5pm every day, work from home a few days a week, and spend lots of quality time with my family.
